Tony’s Take: 👍 👍 👍 Who doesn’t love Porsche’s amazing options list? Admiral Ackbar! Choose the wrong options – too few or the wrong ones – and resale value tanks. Choose too many and you’ll never get your money back. Except these days – with new Porsches pulling a premium– you do.

This 2008 997 Porsche Carrera S is loaded to the gills: paint-to-sample Mexico Blue, black leather, six-speed manual, “lobster claw” wheels, heated sports seats, BOSE sound, factory sport exhaust, red taillights, aluminum footrest and the rare factory-installed Aerokit (GT3-derived front spoiler and fixed rear wing). The gearshift, hand brake and steering wheel are trimmed in Alcantara. The center console and seat backs are color-matched. With 31k miles on the clock, this is someone’s idea of a perfect daily driver. In today’s market, I say this 14-year-old Carrera is worth $105k – $120k all day long. Downside: Mexico Blue isn’t for shrinking violets. Not a fan of that wing.

  1. Personally love the Aerokit (wing) option on the 996 and 997. Some people shy away from these because of IMS/Waterpump+temp sensor/Borescore issues. But the fact of the matter is, if you take care of the regular maintenance that needs to be done, it’s considered “bulletproof”. IMO it’s one of the most fulfilling flat six engines ever made. Lots of emotion in those 3.6 and 3.8 engines.

  2. The inflation rate in the United States between 2008 and today has been 38.25%, which translates into a total increase of $34.43. This means that 90 dollars in 2008 are equivalent to 124.43 dollars in 2022. In other words, the purchasing power of $90 in 2008 equals $124.43 today. The average annual inflation rate between these periods has been 2.34%.

Talk about holding value, spot on. Based on the hot market and with everything considered,
    I will estimate $133,000

    1. Basically someone got to drive 31k miles in a pretty fresh ride for ~$8k (not even). Can’t beat that with a stick.
