Tony’s Take: 👍👍👍 Restomods might be The Next Big Thing. (Farago will explain.) Meanwhile, why not a Vintage Motorcars 356 Speedster Replica? Seeking approving nods from the antique car cognoscenti is an expensive, time consuming and obscure endeavor. Driving a modern car that looks like an antique is an easy-peasey crowd pleaser. And fun! The market shows a few VM faux Speedsters selling for $58 to $85k. I say they’re undervalued. A base-model build starts at $48k (air-cooled) or $62k (water-cooled) and goes nuts from there. And there’s a 22-month waiting list for a new build. I say this air-cooled Speedster’s hood strap and blacked-out look whispers “must have” to James Dean wannabe’s. Downside: life in plastic is it really fantastic? Hideous top.
