Tony’s Take: The Ferrari F512 M looks like it had too many facelifts. That’s why 90 percent of owners are plastic surgeons. I say the Ferrari 512tr is the better looking of the three variants (the 512 M’s front doesn’t quite work and the rear uses the 355’s taillights). The M’s worth more than the Testarossa and 512tr – for now. I say their relative values will eventually reverse between the 512M and the 512TR. Ferrari only made 501 examples of the last of the Testarossa-bodied cars, sending just 75 to The Home of the Brave.

Goofy as the front end may be, as an investment, the Ferrari F512 M is a sure thing – a great choice in the sub-million dollar Ferrari genre.

In terms of driving, che bello! The 512M’s fuel-injected 4,943 cc DOHC flat 12-Cylinder engine generates 440 hp at 6,750 RPM, channeled through a five-speed manual. Stopping? Four-wheel cross-drilled ventilated disc brakes. Handling? Four-wheel Independent-wishbone suspension. Some say it’s the ultimate daily driver vintage daily driver. Who am I to disagree?

A low-mile F512M recently sold for $730k. A black 9000-mile car hammered for $780k. A red tan 7k miler pulled $720 (more than Gooding’s predicted). Sub 10k mile cars bring the extra Premium and this isn’t one. Plus the M’s have soften up a lil, based on an off market recent sale. I don’t see this bringing $500k.
