Tony’s Take: π NSX stands for “New Sportscar eXperimental.” Launched in 1990, Honda’s breakthrough all-aluminum body Acura NSX was shockingly good. At $200k (in today’s money), the Senna-tuned mid-engined marvel showed just how badly built, unreliable and tricky-on-the-limit Ferrari’s 348 was in comparison. Yes, but – the NSX’s plastic fantastic interior did it no favors. And it is a Honda. And now it’s a sure-fire investment. “There’s a lot of runway left on Japanese cars,” specialty car expert Scott Ales says. With XGenx and millennials already worshipping the NSX, prices will rise for the next 35 years.
This Targa is the right year (electronic throttle control, torque reactive differential and SportShift), color (red) and mileage (1400). Two years ago, it sold forΒ $91,388 – a bargain compared to what happens next. Downside: Not a manual. Next model year has an upgraded 3.2 L engine (the 3.0 L generates 252hp and targas add 100 lbs.).
