Once again, it’s time to compare my price predictions to the actual auction results. The GMC Syclone and the 1979 Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino came in exactly as expected. I was way off on the Corvettes; I over-estimated the ’85 and ’57 4-Speed (an amazing bargain for someone). The ’95 Ferrari 348 Spider and the IROC went for slightly more than I’d predicted – and worth every penny. Bottom line: the market is softening more quickly than I’d anticipated. Monterey Car Week could be the start of a dramatic market correction – or its last hurrah. One way or another, sooner or later, “tulip mania” prices are coming to an end.
